Baltimore's new Justice Thurgood Marshall Amenity Center honors civil rights icon

Baltimore has honored civil rights icon Thurgood Marshall by transforming his old elementary school, P.S. 103, into the Justice Thurgood Marshall Amenity Center. This newly renovated space, spearheaded by Dr. Alvin Hathaway serves as a community gathering place and research facility.

The grand opening coincided with what would have been Marshall's 116th birthday. Maryland House of Delegates Speaker Adrienne Jones and Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott emphasized the center's significance in providing essential resources and enhancing community life. The facility will host various programs, including a gun violence initiative and a juvenile diversion program, aimed at supporting West Baltimore residents.
