Memphis and Pearl Update: What’s Happening Behind The Fence
By: David Robinson, Executive Director of Old Brooklyn Community Development Corporation

The Memphis & Pearl redevelopment moved through its most complicated stretch of work yet this summer. The triangle-shaped Greenline building is now completely gone, the long-worried underground storage tank has been removed. It turned out to be full of water, not petroleum, and a new sewer and stormwater system has been installed across the site.
Crews are now rebuilding four structural piers along the original St. Luke’s wall so the addition can be safely separated from the church, with roof assessment work beginning in early September. In a new update from the Executive Director’s desk, David Robinson also covers the shift from HUD to traditional financing, a Brownfield Remediation Program extension through December 31, and why the final apartment count and commercial mix are still taking shape.
